I’ve just started juicing again after just making smoothies for a while. I’m really feeling the difference in my energy even more with the ingredients of more greens in my diet.  Try this drink in the morning and you’ll see what I mean!

And please note you can control how rich your lemonade/juice is by simply adding water to make it lighter or adding kale, ginger and lemon to make it richer. I actually only use half of lemon right now, because it was a little too strong. But try it and see how your body responds. You might love it!  You can have it at least twice a day when on a juice fast as well.

Ingredients:

6 stalks of Kale
1 head of Romaine (or a few sticks of Celery)
2 Apples (Fuji or Gala recommended)
1 Lemon (the whole lemon can be juiced..even the rind!)
1 inch of Ginger (optional)

(If needed add a little bit of Agave or Coconut Nectar for Sweetening)

Juice it all up and enjoy! Let us know how you feel in a week.

Why these ingredients?

Celery: High in calcium 1 cup of juiced celery provides 20% of your daily recommendation for calcium (take that dairy products). Also high in collagen-promoting vitamin C, and Vitamin A which is great for your vision, skin and teeth.

Kale: One of the most nutrient-dense/antioixdant rich of all vegetables. It rates 1000 on the ANDI (Aggregate Nutrient Density Index). What does this mean? Include it is your diet as often as possible!

Apple: As they say, an apple a day, keeps the doctor away. The antioxidant quercetin, helps boost your endurance by increasing oxygen to the lungs, so it’s great pre-run. It is also good for detoxifying and digestive health. The sweetness may help reduce your cravings for processed sweets.

Lemon: Although they seem acidic, lemons have an alkalizing effect on the body. They deliver an immune boost with Vitamin C, and a mild diuretic effect, helping you shed water weight.

Ginger: Helps with gastrointestinal problems, is highly anti-inflammatory, and protects against certain types of cancer.
