Yes, it’s true. You should beware the news! Ever notice how you FEEL after you watch an hour of DOOM AND GLOOM on your evening news? Even things you read in the paper and the internet all count. I love this idea from Dr.Weil called a NEWS FAST. I do it regularly and it does help tremendously. You can still know what’s going on in the world…skim little tibits on the news stand or just ask. Either way, it will shift your emotions and your thoughts to a HAPPY PLACE when you are not consumed with negative energy. Check out what Dr. Weil has to say about this….

Rejuvenate Your Spirits
Been feeling stressed out after watching or reading the news lately? A “news fast” – avoiding news on the television, newspaper or the Internet for a few days or even a week – may help renew your spirits. It is a good way to gauge how you react to and process news, and how the news affects you.
If it seems outlandish, consider the following:
Perceiving the world as violent, unsafe and hostile can have negative effects on your body, as well. By taking a news fast, you can develop a more conscious relationship with the media – and promote greater mental calm within yourself. When you spend more time in harmonious mental states, your body will function better, and anxiety and over-stimulation may be minimized. Give it a try!

BARTER IS ALWAYS SMARTER and I’ll scream it from the roof tops if I have to! Read this article to learn why the oldest currency ever has made a huge comeback. This week alone – I got my hair done, sent flowers to a friend, and some flyers designed–ALL ON BARTER. THE GIVE ‘N TAKE Network..allows you to do it all.
The Story of Currency (Barter, Capital, Cash, Money, Credit)
By Danish Ahmed
Once upon a time, before there was any money, individuals in small communities would exchange products and services with each other.
To have a standard unit of measurement that was generally accepted by all, things like shells, cocoa beans, feathers, or even pretty stones were used to denote value.
Gold and silver, being soft, attractive, and easy to work with, soon were adopted by many cultures as a new standard. Goldsmiths made trade much easier, by casting coins — standardized units which could be measured to verify their purity.
The goldsmith needed a vault to protect his gold, and soon townsmen would come to the goldsmith to safeguard their gold as well. The goldsmith also made money by lending out his gold to fellow townsmen, charging interest.
Claim-checks (receipts) the goldsmith would write would be used in the marketplace for commerce, instead of the gold itself. This paper money was much more convenient because the exact amounts could be written down instead of being laboriously counted one-by-one.
Not everybody would ever come to reclaim their gold at once, so the goldsmith realized that he could lend out OTHER PEOPLE’S gold, charging interest, and making the interest money himself.
Eventually, depositors found out what was going on. But instead of demanding their gold back, they simply asked the goldsmith, now more banker than artisan, to cut them in on the profits of the interest he was collecting.
This was the beginning of banking. Depositors loan money to a bank at a small interest rate. The bank loans that money out at a much higher interest rate to a borrower. The difference in interest from depositor to borrower is kept by the bank to cover operations and profit.
However, this is not the way banking works today.
As industry expanded, demand for credit grew, and our goldsmith/banker had another brilliant idea! Nobody but him knew what was in the vault and so he could write claim-checks for gold (earning interest on it) that wasn’t even there. As long as everybody didn’t come at once to reclaim their gold, how would anybody find out?
Making money from nothing got to the banker’s head, and his ostentatious wealth was eventually questioned. The game was up, and the goldsmith went bankrupt. The phenomena of a “run on the bank” ruined individual banks and damaged public confidence in all bankers.
Instead of outlawing the practice of inventing money from nothing, the practice was legalized and regulated. Limits on “fictional loan money” were usually regulated at a ratio of 9:1, enforced by surprise inspection. Infusion of emergency money from a “central bank” would avoid a run on the bank for smaller institutions.
Today, our world banking system is based on this model of fictional loan money, with some accounts having ratios as high as 30:1. This system is not sustainable, and has led us into a collapsing economy of debt, where it becomes impossible to payback the initial capital plus interest, from a pool of currency that does not exist (or must be continually borrowed, creating more debt). Both individuals and governments cannot escape this financial slavery.
The healthcare crisis, social security, and the sub-prime mortgage meltdown are all examples of a now debt-based economy collapsing in on itself.
One way to escape this prison is to revert back to a barter network. This is why we build communities and networks. We exchange products and services with each other, avoiding the use of a government currency whenever possible. The quality of our life increases, without the need to pay interest or taxes on that trade.
Gold and precious metals may or may not become a standard once again. However, they have always retained their value over thousands of years, and it is always a good idea to have a backup means of currency.

For the last four days, I’ve been craving grill cheese sandwiches! It’s the strangest thing, since I haven’t made those since I was a teenager and I try to stay away from bread. My usual need is sweet hot cup of cocoa. I know, I know..not good . (It’s my biggest addiction.) I’m getting help though… lol
I decided to look up what certain cravings mean and I came across this pretty interesting article that breaks it down:)
Enjoy!

Who hasn’t experienced the overwhelming desire to eat something specific, whether it be chocolate, potato chips, a burger, or some other food? We’ve all experienced cravings, but we should be careful about the way in which we satisfy them. By understanding what your body is actually deficient in (assuming it is a physical, not an emotional food craving) you can get to the root cause of the cravings, and eventually kick them all together.
There are numerous possible meanings of cravings, depending on the type of craving and your eating habits. Before you satisfy cravings, drink a tall glass of pure water. Quite often we misinterpret our body’s signal for thirst as a signal of hunger. By drinking a tall glass of water first, you may be giving your body exactly what it wants and alleviate craving. Some experts estimate that up to 80 percent of the population is chronically dehydrated, so start with water before you try to decipher your cravings.
Chocolate.
If you crave chocolate, it doesn’t mean your body has a chocolate deficiency, although I think most people would prefer that. Chocolate is high in magnesium. Cravings for it often indicate that your body is deficient in magnesium, which is a common deficiency. If you’re going to eat chocolate, choose organic cocoa and mix it into a healthy smoothie, or eat a small amount of dark chocolate. Because that is unlikely enough to deal with a magnesium deficiency, it’s also important to eat other foods high in magnesium, such as nuts, seeds, fish, and leafy greens.
Sweets
If you crave sweets you may be experiencing blood sugar fluctuations. When your blood sugar drops, your body may be trying to get you to give it more fuel to keep your blood sugar levels stable. If this is a chronic occurrence you may have hypoglycemia, which simply means low blood sugar. Whether your sugar cravings are sporadic or chronic, it is important to choose the right type of food to bring your body back into balance. Giving in to cookies, cakes, candies, or other refined sweets will only make the problem worse and cause a blood sugar roller coaster that leads to more cravings. Instead, choose a piece of fruit when you’re craving sweets. In the interim, add more high-fiber foods like beans and legumes, and complex carbohydrates like whole grains to give you the fuel you need without the blood sugar spikes. If you’re really struggling with sugar cravings, you may also wish to supplement with the mineral chromium since it helps to regulate blood sugar levels and ward off cravings.
Salty Foods
Cravings for salty foods like popcorn or chips often indicate stress hormone fluctuations in the body. Getting on top of the stress in your life is step one. The adrenal glands help your body cope with stress and, in our fast-paced, hectic lives, tend to become worn out, especially from stress-hormone production. Try meditation, breathing exercises, or other stress management techniques. Research at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City showed that people who take a break to breathe deeply or meditate before reaching for salty snacks reduced their stress hormones by 25 percent and cut the bingeing in half.
If your adrenal glands are worn out, you can also support them with a high-quality B-complex vitamin, with extra pantothenic acid (that’s vitamin B-5) and vitamin C. Eating more leafy greens helps to supply your body with minerals that support the adrenal glands, especially potassium.

SEE YOUR LIFE THROUGH A DIFFERENT LENS
by Coach Rochelle
Over the years, I have taken the time to spend deep reflection on all my relationships with friends and family. I enjoy looking at my life through a different lens as I evolve and embrace the lessons I’ve learned along the way. As the seasons change, so do we. We grow into different people based on our life’s lessons.
Everytime I’m with my 92 year old Mom , I’m reminded of her strength, courage, love and tenacity. I’m reminded of the lessons she must have learned over her amazing life. She’s been through so much and survived The Great Depression. My mom also was a hard-working woman and had her own struggles. Now, looking back on my life and seeing my courage. I certainly see where I got this from!
However, I must say that my generation was quite different and I chose a very different path and that was to look at the things that weren’t working in my life and to make the shifts. I started my journey of self-exploration at the age of 30 and never looked back!
Now, many years later, I’ve embraced my strength and courage and I took back all my power, asked for forgiveness and learned to love myself first and then others. I’m so passionate about the work I do today, where I can hold my clients in a very sacred, special place they feel safe and unconditional love for them. My heart’s desire is to see my clients embrace all of who they are and all that they’re becoming! Because of all the changes I’ve received in my life, it’s made me a better Mom, ex-wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and coach.
Well, I have to admit that from doing this work as a coach, its very apparent to me that not everyone likes change. We fight against it, we run away from it and it’s usually because it’s the UNKNOWN. We want to stay safe and stick with what we know, even if it’s not always the best option. Playing it safe can be staying at a job that makes us miserable, playing it safe can be not venturing out to make new friends, or playing it safe can be staying in an unfulfilling or abusive relationship.
There’s Love on the Other Side of Fear!
As you grow in life, you learn that many times your the only one who holds you back from GROWING, you miss out on so many opportunities because of your fears. Changes are exciting, learn to embrace them! Yes, we make mistakes…we slip and fall, but just pick yourself right up and start over again.
Get Your Journals Handy…
It’s time to WORK on YOU!
IT’S TIME TO GROW!
1. Where are you in your life right now? Are you a caterpillar crawling slowing to the “other side” or are you moving full speed ahead into your greatness of big beautiful butterfly?
2. What would the mature woman that I am today say to the 20 year old version of myself? Think back on things you’ve learned that you probably didn’t know then.
3. What advice would I give to myself as a 10 year old child?
4. After meditating on your life through a different lens, what does the new you look like five years from now?
5. Write down whatever comes up-your worries, your sadness, your excitement, your hopes-is a great way to learn about yourself through the vehicle of fear and to remember that fear almost always comes alongside anything worth doing in your life.
With Much Love,
Coach Rochelle Schwartz
